Improve Your Google Pagerank – SEO Tips and Affordable, Budget Hosting Plans and Services – the Hosting Hole

If you can improve your Google PageRank then you will have a sure-fire way of improving your listing position. Google states very clearly that their PageRank and your link density is a very important part of how they decide your listing position for any keyword.

There are steps you can take to improve that and use an approximation to the Google PageRank formula to calculate how successful you are being. However, no one really knows what is required to get from one page rank figure to the next. If it takes 10 linking points to get a page rank at all, it will likely take a lot more to get from 1 to 2. It might take hundreds of thousands to get from 5 to 6, but many sites seem to get to page rank 3 and then stop.

Page rank is a measurement of the relative number of links to your webpage and the importance of the sites making these links, compared to the number of links leaving your web page. Page rank is what it says. It is a ranking of your web pages, not your whole website. This is particularly useful since it lists individual pages on your website, not the whole website. Check the current PageRank of your site / URL here.

These links need not be from outside sources, since internal page linking also counts. If one of your pages is linked to your home page, your home page gets a share of that page’s rank. The share decreases for each other page that the page in question is linked to. Each page in your website starts off with a page rank of 1. That then increases or reduces according to your internal linking strategy, and it is possible to design that strategy to provide as much PR as possible to one or more pages in your website.

Once you have optimized your internal links, you should then try to achieve as many links back to your website as possible from other websites. Keep in mind that you should try to get other web pages to link to specific pages on your site, that you have chosen either for their relevance to the keyword in question, or because that is the page that you want to get listed highest in Google.

Also keep in mind that websites with a very good page rank on their home page might be providing you with a link from a page deep in their site that has a very low PR, or even zero. A links page, for example, with only one link to the page but a hundred out will provide with next to no benefit. If the link is reciprocated, you could be giving that website more page rank points than you are getting back.

Another very important note. Make positively sure your hosting provider is consistent and reliable. Nobody exactly know how often Google updates PageRank but records show that PageRank updates 4-5 times a year on average. DO NOT take a chance of your website being down during the PageRank update. You must ensure that you have quality, reliable web hosting from an industry leader. So how do you choose a hosting provider when there are thousands of hosting companies available online? These tips will steer you in the right direction.

Google Pagerank

Google Pagerank

What is Google Pagerank exactly?

I get asked this question alot of times by my clients. I am still amazed sometimes at the ignorance of website owners. And, since I own a hosting company, I deal with website owners on a daily basis. I think it’s time to set the record straight on the whole PageRank topic.

Why Google?
If you own a website, and make your living off it, then the Search Engines are the all seeing, all knowing gods of your universe. And Google will be the chief cook and bottle washer in this equation. Some useless, but interesting facts about Google:
Google processes about 20 Petabytes of data per day. (A petabyte (derived from the SI prefix peta- ) is a unit of information or computer storage equal to one quadrillion bytes, or 1000 terabytes. IE – 20 Billion Gigabytes of data per DAY…)
At last count (March 2006) they handled about 91 Million searches/day

If you do a little research into PageRank, you’ll be amazed at how obsessed everybody is with it. And for good reason as well. Everybody wants a larger one. Everyone has ideas about how to increase it. (Some of them good. Some of them not so good. Others are just plain reckless and stupid.) Let me explain what it is, and how it works.

It’s no surprise then that Google is the leader in the search engine world at the moment. So where does pagerank come into play?

What it is

Firstly, when it comes to PageRank, there are three things you need to understand right from the start:
Everyone thinks that PageRank is important.
Nobody admits that PageRank is important. (Unless they have a high one)
Everyone is always interested in the size of everyone else’s

Pagerank is one of the many factors Google takes into account when it returns the results for a search term. It’s Google’s way of indicating how important a website is. It matters because it is one of the factors that determines a page’s ranking in the search results. It isn’t the only factor that Google uses to rank pages, but it is an important one.
PageRank is determined by an algorithm, and the main factor of this is algorithm is the amount of websites linking to a specific site, and what THEIR PageRank is.
You can basicly look at a link from site A to site B, as a vote from site A for site B. The higher site A’s PageRank, the more this vote will count.

PageRank is measured from 0-10. On face value, sites can be sorted out into three categories:

PageRank 0-2
- New websites that are just starting out. Websites that have come to terms with the size of their PageRank and have given up trying to increase it (but secretly hope it’ll still grow over time). Bad boys who have broken the SEO rules (and there are a lot of them).

PageRank 3-6
- Established websites that have proven they can perform. Niche websites that have a big enough PageRank to do what they need it to do.

PageRank 7-10
- In order to compete with this PageRank, one needs to develop other techniques to establish your own area of specialist expertise.

How is it calculated?

This is the Algorithm: PR(A) = (1-d) + d(PR(t1)/C(t1) + … + PR(tn)/C(tn))

The way Google determines a page’s PageRank with this algorithm, is however a topic for a entire post, which I will do indepth at a later stage. I will give you the shorthand version though:

a page’s PageRank = 0.15 + 0.85 * (a “share” of the PageRank of every page that links to it)
where
“share” = the linking page’s PageRank divided by the number of outbound links on the page. This unfortunately also means that the more outbound links there are on a page linking to your site, the less PageRank value your page will receive from it.

As you can see this is quite a complex calculation. The PageRank of the individual pages in a site also plays a part in the final PageRank for a site. Also keep in mind that, while calculating site A’s pagerank, if site B is linking to site A, site B’s PageRank will be taken into the calculation. If site A’s PageRank increases due to this, and site A links to site B, so will site B’s. This in turn means that the vote for site A from site B will be worth more, and the whole process starts from the beginning again.
(How’s that for numbers crunching?) The equation shows clearly how a page’s PageRank is arrived at. But what isn’t immediately obvious is that it can’t work if the calculation is done just once. 40 to 50 calculations are needed, and this is precisiely what Google does at each update, and it’s the reason why the updates take so long.

Note that when a page votes its PageRank value to other pages, its own PageRank is not reduced by the value that it is voting. The page doing the voting doesn’t give away its PageRank and end up with nothing. It isn’t a transfer of PageRank. It is simply a vote according to the page’s PageRank value. It’s like a shareholders meeting where each shareholder votes according to the number of shares held, but the shares themselves aren’t given away.

How can I increase my PageRank?

SEO
Make sure your site is Search Engine Friendly. Make sure your META TAGS are in the correct format, so that you don’t get penalised on account of it. (This will also be the subject of a future post.)

CONTENT
By increasing the number of pages on the site, it increases the amount of PageRank the webmaster can play with. If those pages point (or link) internally then it can increase the PageRank of those pages for instance. Just be carefull not to create useless pages with no PageRank value, as it will affect your PageRank negatively, for obvious reasons.

ADVERTISE
Advertising your website is a core piece of your strategy. However, to really increase that PageRank, you need incoming, permanent, links not occasional pay-per-click ads or banners that can change day-to-day or week-to-week. Ways to do this include, writing high quality articles that get published on a number of sites (the author is still working on getting that one right), being active in fora associated with the subject of your website, and forming a group in one or more of the social websites.

LINK
I cannot stress the importance of this enough. Build links to other websites, and have them link back to you. (Called reciprocal linking). The more links pointing to your site, the better for you pagerank. Build links from sites with a higher PageRank than yours, if you can. Actually, this SHOULD BE YOUR GOAL.

Tips for the Successful Link Building

Tips for the Successful Link Building

At first I want to tell you something about link building basics. Link building is about getting inbound links to your website /link popularity building/ and it is one of the most important aspects when evaluating the quality of a website. Our intention is always to get more visibility and traffic to our website through these links. It is a part offpage search engine optimization /SEO/ and you have to do it, when onpage optimization is done correctly.

With link building you will improve your link popularity and that is important because every search engine /Google, MSN, Yahoo …/ now consider them as a part of their ranking algorithms. It is inevitable part for achievement TOP 10 position in search engines and for the good Google Page Rank as well.

For those who don’t now what the page rank is, here’s the explanation. Google is measuring the importance of the websites with the scale for ranking called pagerank /it is from 1-10/. When you install the Google bar, there you see the pagerank of your website, the higher is the better.

But now, let’s start with link building process. We know 2 types of link building in term of linking:

1. One-way link building

2. Reciprocal link building

The first one gives more importance but it’s harder to get. Here are some simple but effective tips.

1. Getting one-way link is not so easy, because your website must provide some useful and quality information for your visitors so they will link to your site without asking them. Be sure to always create on your website an important page and name it “Links to us”. It helps your visitors to copy and paste the HTML code to their websites; you can also create a small banner ad. If your information on your well designed website is interesting, useful and up-to-date people will certainly link to you without asking. These sort of inbound links are natural and valuable, but this is not the only method to get one-way links. Here is the next:

A, Submitting to the popular and niche directories /the most important free directory is DMOZ.org and paid Yahoo directory/.

Find for your website suitable directories and pages accepting your site. Put into Google, Yahoo and MSN the following word and keyword combination:

“add url” “your keyword” “no backlink required” ,

“submit url” “your keyword” “no backlink required” ,

“submit link” “your keyword” “no backlink required”

By typing these queries to Google you will directly find thousands of one-way links.

B, Submit your website to the article directories

Write an interesting article about your business or interests, but never trade in your article. Try to provide interesting information. If you don’t have time write or you don’t know how to do it you can hire some freelance writer who will do it for few bucks.

Search for article directories, simply type a query to Google:

“submit your article”,

“submit article”,

“add your article”,

“add article”

With these queries you will find hundreds of free article directory sites!

Don’t forget to promote your articles and website at digg.com, del.icio.us, technorati.com, furl.net, rawsugar.com, simpy.com, shadows.com, blinklist.com, my.yahoo.com, google.com/reader, my.msn.com, bloglines.com/help/share.

C, Submit your website to the forum sites

Another way to generate one way links is by participating in forum debates. There is also the possibility to leave your signature and URL. Many forums allow you to register, add a relevant comment or thread and sign your comment with a website. Some forums are so popular and visited that search engines visit them often and can generate a free traffic for you.

D, Leave a comment on other blog sites.

Search for the blog sites related to yours where you can leave a comment.

Type a query to Google:

“Leave a comment” intitle:”your keyword”

“Leave a response” intitle:”your keyword”

“Leave a comment” “your keyword”

“Leave a response” “your keyword”

Always read the corresponding article /blog/, make only on-topic and useful comment, but be careful not to spam.

If you have a blog site, be sure to submit it to blog directories.

E. Press release distribution

Next possibility to get one-way links and visibility is to submit a press release about your site to PRWeb, PRLeap. These sites distribute press releases to major news outlets and syndicates.

F, Email newsletter directory submission

Find email newsletter directories you can get the value from advertising in the newsletter and then benefit from the link in the website archive.

Some newsletter directories:

Ezine-Universe.com, Zinos.com, BestEzines.com, InfoBot.net, LifestylesPub.com, …

G, Buy one-way links

You can also buy links from high ranking sites. It can bring you some traffic and increase your page rank but have to pay for linking back from – 0 monthly depending of the pagerank and position of your link on the website. Quality text links ads you can get from textlinkbrokers.com

There are lots of link brokers out there waiting to sell you a link from a high ranking site. These may have value but I like to look for well established, relevant newsletters that sell ads AND archive past issues on their website

H. Beware of Link Farms you may often heard about getting thousands links but it is not effective and that’s not the way to go.

2. Reciprocal Link Building

The easier way to getting links is asking website owners or webmasters for link back to your website for their link. Always put their link to your website before you asking for a links exchange. It’s harder to say no when you link them back.

To find your competitors backlinks in Goggle, MSN and Yahoo type the following:

Link:www.yourcompetitorwebsite.com try to get backlinks from these sites

Let’s see how to find another link partners in search engines:

“add url” “your keyword”

“submit url” “your keyword”

“submit link” “your keyword”

“your keyword” “link exchange”

Quality reciprocal links you can find by typing the previously mentioned queries in directory.yahoo.com and dmoz.org.

Link popularity building is not an overnight process; it has to be doing properly, continuously, day by day or week by week. You may use some link building software, but when you build links always vary the link building techniques and after 3 6 months you will see how your link popularity and traffic are increasing. You can check your link popularity at http://searchengineoptimization-submission.com/link_populariry.php

Link Popularity: Placing Text Links on High Pagerank Websites

Link Popularity: Placing Text Links on High Pagerank Websites

It is well known that major search engines rank your website based on the quantity and quality of links that are pointing to your site. Webmasters use various methods to increase their website’s link popularity.

One of them is using text links ads. These are ads that are very similar to newspaper’s ads, without graphics. You just write a headline with a short description and include the link to your website. Visitors clicking on them are directly sent to your site. And obviously, the search engine spiders visiting those websites follow your link. And because these are one-way links (also called “backlinks”), they have a higher weight in the search engines’s algorithms which determine your website’s ranking.

The most important part of this method is to choose the website where you put your link. For obvious reasons, most webmasters prefer to place their links on highly ranked websites or directories. The higher the Pagerank of the website offering you a one-way link, the better for you. In fact, the most effective quality links are those placed on PR5 websites or higher such as asondheim, which offers also search engine friendly listings with deep links to many pages of the same domain.

Some webmasters buy text links at a monthly basis, what the advertisers call ‘recurring billing’. You place your inbound link on a high ranked website and you pay an agreed fee every month. This method has the disadvantage of tying you up for long i.e. if you don’t pay your monthly bill, your link will be removed and you’ll no longer have the benefit you were looking for in the first place: having a quality link pointing to your website from a high ranked website.

But there is nowadays another interesting alternative: some text links directories offer the possibility of placing your link with a one-off fee. You then have a permanent link to your website. No recurring billing! No link removal! And the most exciting feature is that those one-off payments can costs as little as -. This is a cheap and highly cost-effective method of increasing your popularity. Usually, webmasters who want their website to appear at prominent places, such as the homepage or the top of a category page, have to bid more than the others. They decide what they want to pay in order to appear where they want. A fair enough system, in my opinion.

How to identify such websites? Do as I did. Use Google. You can make a search via Google, using keywords such as ‘buy cheap text links’ for example.

Sim Mus is an Internet Marketer, owner of a make money online via internet marketing website. He has identified a PR5 – Web Directory specialised in high quality and cheap text links ads and is more than happy to share his experience as internet marketer.

A Beginner?s Introduction to the Google Pagerank

The Google PageRank Explained Simply

A common question amongst website owners is, “How is the Google PageRank assigned to my website?” The answer is not as maddening or mysterious as most people imagine. This short article offers you a simple and easy to understand introduction to the most essential factors you need to know about your site’s Google PageRank.

The Aim of the Google PageRank

Google’s intention with its PageRank (PR) system is to objectively and accurately assess the importance of each of the billions of webpages in cyberspace that are all fiercely fighting with each other for top placement in Google’s search engine results.

Explained simply, Google’s strategy is that, any website that has many other websites linking to it (i.e. Inbound Links or External Links) must be popular. Why else would so many other sites have hyperlinks pointing to it? Google counts the number of websites that have a hyperlink leading to your site and uses this to calculate your site’s PageRank.

The PageRank is a Popularity Contest

Google’s strategy is based upon the uniquely democratic nature of millions of autonomous websites that have the free choice to post a hyperlink to a third-party website or not. Accordingly, each Inbound Link a website has is regarded as a VOTE in an intercontinental internet Election. Websites with more votes will have a higher PageRank.

Amongst SEO professionals, this is referred to as “Link Popularity,” and this whole system can be thought of as the world’s biggest popularity contest. Google’s PageRank can, first and foremost, be viewed as a “PopularityRank.” For example:

As of January 7th, 2009, www.coca-cola.com has 2,570 External Links and a highly impressive PR8, while www.7up.com has 447 External Links and a PR5. At the extreme, www.wikipedia.org has a PR9 with over 77,000 External Links.

All External Links are NOT Created Equal

This hypothetical “trans-national cyberspace voting” is not entirely democratic, however, because each individual vote is not valued equally. Google does not weigh all Inbound Links to your site evenly. Instead, it determines each link’s value through a brain-boggling, complex algorithm that only a genius has any chance of understanding.

That being stated, the two most important factors which determine an External Link’s Search Engine Optimization value are as follows:

The key factor is the Google PageRank of the webpage that contains the link to your site. For example, a link to your site from Wikipedia with a PR9 is vastly more valuable than a link from someone’s private Blog with a PR1.

The second most significant factor is the link’s pertinence to your site. Google compares the keywords on your site and the keywords at the site linking to you, and it calculates the External Link’s “Relevance.” For example, if you sell computers, then an article about “computers” with a link to your website is vastly more valuable than an article about “baby clothing” with a link to your website.

Initiate a Link-Building Campaign Today

A pivotal SEO strategy is to implement a link-building campaign for your site. The best options you have to acquire External Links to your site are business directories, classified ads, magazines and article databases, business and personal profiles, and collaboratively exchanging links with other websites.

For instance, if you set the reasonable weekly goal to get two new Inbound Links, then, within two years, you should earn a very respectable Google PR5.

Reviewwave: Helping you Rank Higher on Google Pagerank

Reviewwave: Helping you Rank Higher on Google Pagerank

Reviewwave.com is an excellent marketing tool. Business houses or individuals who own sites, that is, siteholders, marketers, and webmasters can use Reviewwave.com to gain more visibility. And how is this achieved, one might ask? It’s simple!

Let us consider how Reviewwave.com works. If you’re a siteholder, a marketer, or a webmaster and need your site to be reviewed, that is, you need an objective opinion about your website you need to register at Reviewwave.com. Reviewwave.comis a brand new site, which helps such siteholders get an impartial criticism about their site. However, it is not just the siteholder who benefits from Reviewwave.com. Bloggers too benefit immensely. Reviewwave.com provides them ample opportunities to make money. All they need to do is review the websites. And how do they achieve the same? Bloggers simply need to submit their sites to Reviewwave.com. Once the administrator of Reviewwave.com accepts the blog(s), the blogger is free to take up any website to review the same. And who is it that puts the various websites for reviewing? Siteholders, marketers or webmasters, also termed as “Advertisers,” create “Campaigns”, that is, they request for the review of their website. Advertisers also have the choice of selecting a blogger’s site. They may browse through the marketplace of bloggers. If the Advertisers like a particular site, they may request that blogger to review their site. The blogger may or may not take up the offer of reviewing the advertiser’s site. After the blogger gives his review on the website and after it is reviewed, he/she gets notified that the review is completed and published to his/her blog. The blogger is then paid handsomely by the Advertisers or the Administrators of Reviewwave.com.

So, as can be understood, the blogger needs to visit the site in order to pass an impartial judgment or review. He/she in turn informs his/her friends and acquaintances of his/her blog. They visit his/her blog and read about the advertiser’s website. Once reading about the website, they would naturally visit the same. Not just that, bloggers around the world would read about the site and in turn visit the website. So, the site gains tremendous coverage. Now looking at the bigger picture, we realize that the site gets a higher Google PageRank or for that matter ranks exceedingly well on any search engine, owing to the increased traffic.

Reviewwave.com is also interested in partnerships with international advertising bureaus.

About Reviewwave.com

Reviewwave.com, which is an IQ Division Company, founded 2006, brings bloggers and advertisers together. The advertiser gets an unbiased review from the blogger about his/her website, while the blogger makes money by simply writing a review on the advertiser’s website. So, both profit immensely.

What is Google Pagerank?

What is Google Pagerank?

Everyone will have heard of the phrase ‘Google pagerank’ being mentioned from time to time, most people don’t even know what it is or how much of an important role is plays on the performance of your website. By learning basic methods that can increase your page rank you will be able to get the full potential out of your website. The scale goes from 0 – 10 with each step being harder to achieve, it doesn’t necessarily go up one level at a time, you could be page rank (pr for short) 0 when you first do your site and then after the first update, it could jump to pr 4. It depends solely on how much work you put into it, there are no set periods when Google decides to update but it’s generally around every 3 months or so. Basically Google page rank is the method of which Google uses to establish where in the search engine you will be place and your sites authority.

This does not mean if you have a pr 5 site you will outrank every competing page below you. There are a lot of factors that decide where you will actually rank which is why it’s important you do your research to ensure you don’t miss anything out that could severely affect your ranking. The pr of your website doesn’t really alter the search engine results that much compared to the content level and link building you will of performed, but if there are two or more identical pages, Google would place the one with highest pr above the rest.

A great way of increasing your page rank is to get other sites with high pr linking to your site, this will show to Google that highly respected sites think that you have a quality site which in turn will boost your pr. You need to put a lot of thought into your link building campaign, try to go for quality over quantity. Many people waste time grabbing thousands of pr0 sites which won’t have that much of an effect, Google may even penalise you for spamming. If you can get 10 pr5 links to your site it would give a better result than the thousands of pr0 would, if you get them on targeted sites you will have more chance of targeted traffic coming through to your website which has more chance of converting.
